The Botany Department was established in 1970 with B.Sc. CBZ combination. The classes are effectively begins from the first day of the commencement of the semester and syllabus is completed within the stipulated term days / strict adherence to the academic calendar. Experiments are standardised. Effective translation of the curriculum is by efficient faculty members using live and preserved specimens, herbaria, charts, models, Permanent slides and photographs.

Programme Objectives
Curriculum development:
Botany is the fundamental parts of life on earth. The curriculum for the BSc Botany programme has been designed with an aim of encouraging the growing demands and challenging trends in the educational scenario. It targets the intellectual, professional and personal development of the student, rolling out globally ready individuals in the fast changing world.
Academic orientation:To develop an aptitude towards science and nature. To create a scientific attitude to make students open minded, critical and curious. Expose students to the diversity amongst life forms from primitive to highly evolved. To develop skill in practical work, experiments, equipments and laboratory use. To equip the students with basic skills in identifying, classifying and naming different plants.
Social Interaction:
To inculcate social interaction through the skills related to field visits and botanical tours.

- Conducted Seminars by students using OHP and LCD to gain stage courage and subject command
- Regular conduction of Botanical tours and field visits.
- Environment corner: a healthy practice every day information on “Environment and Biodiversity” has been displaying on black board .
- Documentation of college flora-check list of plants of college campus was prepared.
- Regular assignments and project work were carried out
- To update their knowledge, staff members have attended Orientation courses, refresher courses, national and international seminars, Symposia, and Workshops.

The main goal of the BSc degree in any subject is to develop a deeper understanding of natural laws, inquiring about the reasons and logics which govern them through established methods of observation, modelling, experimentation and calculations. This makes BSc degree a very important weapon in the society and opens a plethora of opportunities for future studies, research as well as lucrative employment opportunities across the globe.
