DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY

  OUR VISION

Through the proper interpretation and insight into the literature Survey, create an awareness of life as a whole; there by enable the students to shape their lives, to do meaningful research and also useful to  serve the society at large. Devise different methods to make the students realize the Knowledge of Biotechnology and its usage.

  OUR MISSION “To Promote and Propagate the Applied Aspects of Biotechnology to the Students.”


  Brief history

Academic programs Presently the courses are available with the following combinations:

The teaching faculty of the department has two full time management appointees. One of the staff members has been awarded with K-SET in life science from Mysore University, Mysore and Member of BOS  Biotechnology and BOE in Biotechnology, Enviromental studies and Microbiology, and pursuing PhD in Biotechnology. Another staff member has been awarded gold medal for M.Sc from Gulbarga University, Kalaburagi. Both the staff members of the department are well versed in curricular and academic activities. The staff members make class room teaching more effective and interesting by the use of teaching aids and ICT methods which makes students to understand the topic easily. The department has a well equipped laboratories, staff room and departmental library (42 books). Students are evaluated with internal assessments and class tests.

The various other activities of the Department  of Biotechnology are:
  1. Workshop has been conducted from 07/02/23 to 09/02/23 on “Biochemical methods and Instruments handling” aimed to be continue in coming years.
  1. Under the CBCS program every year the students were allotted project work in the sixth semester in the Laboratory, Department of Biotechnology, from  2021-22 to 2023-24.
  1. Awareness Programme on Anti-Corruption was arranged at Department of Biotechnology, LVD College, Raichur by Anticorruption Office, Police station, Raichur on 30/12/2021.
  1. Hands on training on “Basic Techniques in Molecular Biology” were arranged for students and staff at BioGenics Research Center, Hubbali from 31/02/2018 to 03/02/2018.
  1. The Staff and students of B.sc II semester, Department of Biotechnology, has visited to Hi-tech Diagnostic Lab Raichur for “observing Biological Imaging Instruments” during 2013-14 and for the study of “Biophysical Instruments” during 2017-18 respectively.
  1. Seminars / Assignments are allotted to the students on regular basis.
